The intercessor’s Advent at Emmaus.  Franz Jantzen.  1987

In Calm House there are two atramentous and white photographs, matted and framed, suspension on the wall in the front interview room.  They were given to us by a former limb of the Fellowship, Franz Jantzen.  Franz was a part of CMF with his parents Naomi and Carl and then he moved to Washington, DC in the mid-tardy 80’s where he still lives and continues to operate with black and frosty photography.  This is one of those photographs he gave us.  It’s fairly regard without reference to relations, with this dark background, and this stripe of light a small off center to the direct, with different flecks of medium of vision around it.  The inscription is “The redeemer’s Appearance at Emmaus.”  Since I attend to frequent the Calmness House duty on a regular ground I’ve enjoyed having the statue in front of my eyes and reflecting about how it relates to the Emmaus record in Luke’s divine revelation.  It is take out of context, so there are plenty of ways of interpreting the statue.  When Luke tells about the two disciples second of recognition when this alien with them took the provisions, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them, and they see that this is The redeemer, and they get up and return to Jerusalem to run over the other disciples about this, I’ve always pictured these two disciples running.  Often this stripe of light looks to me parallel someone with their arms up in the air running to enumerate what they’ve just discovered.
