Small World Reflections
I have whole, and what I consider well-thinking opinions about the controversy that has emerged surrounding proposed changes advent to the Disneyland incarnation of it's a tiny world. But I will not parcel out them in this venue. Call me milksop if you will, but vultures round on both sides of the process of reasoning and even a rational, well-bred and well-intentioned reason on the subject would probable not be immune from the often ungracious and contentious dialogs that have become the hallmark of this specific debate.
But I would of a piece to make a tell of observations about the disputation/discussion itself--
When was Disney narration rewritten to mirror that Mary Blair was the sole creative might behind it's a small nature? She has become the poster child for this anti-revisionist evidence. While I have nothing but admiration and prize for Blair's masterly contributions to Disney hospitable treatment, making her the centerpiece of this disputation overstates her contributions to it's a puny world and serves to contract the efforts of the made up of many other individuals also liable for the creation and completion of the attraction. It is also grave to note that Mary Blair did not bear in the womb of the overall text of the attraction--creation unification via the breath and voices of pl of child--but simply the designs and optic dynamic. It can certainly be argued that sign placement would run reckoner to the theme of the drawing, but that is an argument that doesn't actually require the composing of Mary Blair and her designs. Victimizing Blair and her artistry certainly only served to sensationalize the chronicle.
Creating a contemporaneous social and civic relevance to the rain woodland scene to uphold the anti-revisionist stance is baffling to me. There was no adhering message of preservation intended when the display was introduced with the drawing in 1964. "Rescue the Rainforest" is in fact disingenuous. Remark it should be preserved because of its popular political...
